Erik-Jan Lock

Erik-Jan Lock is the Research Director at the Department of Nutrition and Feed Technology in the Nofima.

He holds a master’s degree in aquaculture from Wageningen University and a PhD in fish physiology from Radboud University in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

For several years he worked as a senior scientist and research group leader at the National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research (NIFES), and at the Institute of Marine Research in the field of fish nutrition in Norway. In recent years, his work has mostly involved research on the suitability of new feed raw materials for fish farming, such as insects and mussels. Lock has led several national and international research projects in this field.

For several years he was a member on the Feed Panel of the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM), and in a working group in the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). Lock has also held a 20 percent position as a Professor at the University of Bergen.
