Rakesh Ranjan is a Research Scientist at the Freshwater Institute. Dr. Ranjan leads research in precision aquaculture. His work focuses on employing sensing technologies, machine learning, and big data analytics to improve the efficiency and sustainability of intensive land-based aquaculture systems. He actively disseminates his research through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at international scientific conferences. He holds a Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from Washington State University, a Master of Technology in Agricultural and Food Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and a Bachelor of Technology in the same field from the College of Technology, Pantnagar, India.
