What will it take for research to bring about the Green Shift in aquaculture? Hear Bente Torstensen’s views on the issue at this year’s conference!
As Division Director for Aquaculture at Nofima, she is responsible for research and innovation within aquaculture and seafood production. With “Sustainable food for all!” as a vision at Nofima, the Green Shift is a driving force in her work as a leader at the research institute.
This of course includes farming based on new forms of production such as RAS. Nofima is also the host institute for CtrlAQUA, a centre for research-based innovation (SFI) in aquaculture in closed containment systems.
Bente Torstensen has a PhD in Nutritional Biology from the University of Bergen and NIFES. She has extensive experience from NIFES, where she gained a degree in fish nutrition, and from MOWI, where she was team leader for fish feed for Global R&D. Bente now holds board positions at EAS (European Aquaculture Society) and the HAV portfolio board of the Research Council of Norway.
