Øyvind Mikkelsen

Øyvind Mikkelsen is a professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, where his research field is in the natural environment and analytical chemistry. His academic background is in biology and chemistry with a PhD in chemistry from NTNU. The research focuses in particular on biogeochemical understanding of water and soil systems, as well as the development of analytical methods for soil and water analyses and sensor systems for water quality monitoring. In aquaculture, Mikkelsen’s work has focused on water quality and sensors for water quality monitoring in RAS facilities.

Mikkelsen also holds an adjunct professor position at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) where he works with pollution in the Arctic, including sources, transport patterns and effects in Arctic ecosystems.
