Eirik Moen Lillebudal

Eirik Moen Lillebudal is Co-founder of EquaFish, which is developing a decision-support platform for smolt facilities. The platform brings together data from existing systems in a single overview, giving biologists, operational staff and management a shared basis for detecting deviations early, understanding their causes and assessing measures before they are implemented.

Before entering the aquaculture industry, Eirik spent seven years in the Norwegian Armed Forces. He brings experience of decision-making under time pressure into aquaculture. Through numerous site visits to both sea-based and land-based operations, EquaFish has mapped workflows, communication and decision-making processes in practice.

In his presentation, “Good Fish Welfare at High Speed Requires the Entire Decision-Making Process to Work”, he will demonstrate how familiar errors can be repeated year after year when the pace is high, and how decision theory can be applied very concretely in day-to-day aquaculture operations. The presentation is relevant to anyone involved in operational decision-making who wants to strengthen fish welfare through better internal communication and access to data.
