Eldar Lien

Eldar Lien is manager of  Innovation and Technology at Searas AS, a Norwegian tech company that develops solutions for water quality and production optimization in  aquaculture. He has a master’s degree in technical physics, is one of two founders of Searas, and has been working with product and technology development since the early ’80s.

At Searas, he works with a cross-disciplinary team with expertise in water chemistry, process technology, biological production systems, and digitalization. The common goal is a desire to understand the underlying mechanisms that affect fish welfare, growth, and production results.

Through sensors, software, water treatment and process solutions, Searas and its subsidiary Optiras work to turn research, measurement data, and operational insights into practical tools for the aquaculture industry. The focus is on integrating technology and biology to provide fish farmers with better decision support, increased production capacity and more robust production systems.
