Harald Ian Muri

Harald Ian Muri is a Research Scientist at SINTEF Ocean, where he works on light environments and lighting technology in aquaculture. He investigates how light sources, water quality and facility design affect the intensity, spectral composition and distribution of light in water, and how these factors relate to fish vision and biological responses to light.

In his presentation, “Light on the Fish’s Terms: Evidence-Based Lighting for Better Smolt Production”, he will show how knowledge of both the light environment and fish visual perception can provide a stronger basis for selecting, measuring and managing lighting in smolt production. The aim is to support lighting practices that are more firmly based on fish needs and documented knowledge.
