He is a trained zoophysiologist from the University of Bergen, and his research has focused particularly on the regulation of puberty and sexual maturation in fish. Since 2008, he has been a Professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU).<\/p>\n<p>Weltzien has extensive leadership experience from the university sector and serves on the boards of several innovation centres.
