Sunndal is located in Indre (Inner) Nordmøre in the county of Møre og Romsdal and in terms of area is the largest municipality in the county. Sunndal is the municipal center where 4,000 of the total of 7,200 inhabitants live. The municipal center has a great deal to offer with regard to commerce and services.
Sunndal is located only a short distance from two airports and has good bus connections. Furthermore, it is fairly close to Oppdal and the E6, and the Dovre Line railway station. Sunndal is easy to get to by car, bus, rail and plane.

Nettbuss AS has a base in Sunndalsøra and serves a number of routes in Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag counties. There are daily services to Molde, Ålesund, Kristiansund, Oppdal and Trondheim.
Oppdal Skysstasjon (which is best translated as a coaching inn in days gone by) is a station on the Dovre Line. The Norwegian State Railways (NSB) operate many routes from all around the country that will bring you to or from Oppdal Skysstasjon.

There are bus services from both airports to Sunndal, but not all departures coincide with the bus schedules.
